Originally from Philadelphia, Caroline attended college in Washington, D.C., graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Media and Communication Studies, a certificate in Digital Storytelling, and a minor in Philosophy. She has media ties to Philadelphia, DC, Seattle, and Portland. She has worked in nonfiction and post-production projects focusing on environmental and social justice issues for several years.

In addition to her media work, she spent two years as an Americorps member in the Repairs Department at Habitat for Humanity Seattle King and Kittitas Counties.
